Return of One

There is a faction of the Republican Party that is as dangerous to liberty as the Democrats.
It is made up of amoral, and therefore willing to become immoral as a means to an end, social progressives.

These comments are provoked by some events at a Candidate’s Forum last night. One of the Candidates was giving his closing remarks and in doing was giving his testimony of Faith in Jesus Christ. During this another candidate was openly and disrespectfully laughing at him. This laugher is the same whose supporters are using every tactic, lies, slander, manufactured events, all because they are willing to do whatever they “must” to try to win power.

“Is there no virtue among us? If there be not, we are in a wretched situation. No theoretical checks, no form of government, can render us secure. To suppose that any form of government will secure liberty or happiness without any virtue in the people, is a chimerical (fantasy) idea.”
James Madison and quoted on page 54 of The 5000 Year Leap.

Madison goes on to explain the only check against leaders without virtue, “If there be sufficient virtue and intelligence in the community, it will be exercised in the selection of these men; so that we do not depend upon their virtue, or put confidence in our rules, but in the people who are to choose them.”

This takes us to the reality of our foundation and the point I have stressed often, and that the founders understood was essential to our form of government; the interconnection between liberty, which means the individual ruling himself, and virtue, which includes the proper conduct in relation to others.

In the years prior to the Declaration of Independence there was a great spiritual awakening in the Colonies. This was due to belief among the Colonist that there was a “Manifest Destiny” and to prepare themselves for their position in the unfolding of this they would need to universally educate the entire population. The education consisted of reading, writing, ciphering, history, geography and Bible study. The education resulted in what Madison describes in the quote above, “virtue and intelligence in the community.”

Of the importance of Bible study Daniel Webster wrote:
“It is not to be doubted, that to the free and universal reading of the Bible, in that age, men were much indebted for right views of civil liberty. The Bible is a book of faith, and a book of doctrine, and a book of morals, and a book of religion, of especially revelation from God; but it is also a book which teaches man his own individual responsibility, his own dignity, and his equality with his fellow man.” Quoted from page 255 & 256 of The 5000 Year Leap

Republicanism without virtue, without an understanding of Natural Law and the God of Nature, is no better or different than every other flawed form of government throughout history.

Understanding this we can understand why the progressive movement in this country a hundred years ago decided in order to infiltrated and undermine government they must also do the same with the press, academia and religion.

This is the foundation that must be reestablished. Without God we will always be minus One.

I don’t just hope the Obama fails, I pray many times a day for it.

“The moment the idea is admitted into society, that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. If "Thou shalt not covet," and "Thou shalt not steal," were not commandments of Heaven, they must be made inviolable precepts in every society, before it can be civilized or made free.” (John Adams)

Wake Up! First Principles!

Understand first principles? One does not depend on two to be one, but two does depend on one. As do all numbers. Without one three is two. Therefore nothing claimed is reality without one.

First principles in the case of our government are those defined and specified in our constitution. Minus those we can only define ourselves, our government, in abstract terms alluding to what we are missing.
We can never be the reality of what we were intended unless we include the first principles.

We are founded on Hebrew- Christian principles.
John Adams: “I will insist that the Hebrews have done more to civilize men than any other nation. If I were an atheist, and believed in blind eternal fate, I should still believe that fate had ordained the Jews to be the most essential instrument for civilizing the nations. If I were an atheist of the other sect, who believe or pretend to believe that all is ordered by chance, I should believe that chance had ordered the Jews to preserve and propagate to all mankind the doctrine of a supreme, intelligent, wise, almighty sovereign of the universe, which I believe to be the great essential principle of all morality, and consequently of all civilization.”

Adams also prophesied in his letter to John Taylor (1814-04-15), “Liberty, according to my metaphysics, is an intellectual quality, an attribute that belongs not to fate nor chance. Neither possesses it, neither is capable of it. There is nothing moral or immoral in the idea of it. The definition of it is a self-determining power in an intellectual agent. It implies thought and choice and power; it can elect between objects, indifferent in point of morality, neither morally good nor morally evil.”

To understand, he went on to tell us, “Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.”

Again this leads us back to the Adams’ statement of the necessity of moral people in government.

That is what he is saying. Liberty has no morality of its self. The morality attached to liberty come through the agent exercising it.

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a religious and moral people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other.”

13For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
14For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
15But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
16This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

We can do this. We can overcome the curse of national suicide. We can do it by understanding we are not a democracy but a representative republic. The genius of the founding fathers was this. We elect representatives to be our self preservation mechanism.

Adams: “Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people.”
“A government of laws, and not of men.”

This is the crossroad at which we stand.
“Metaphysicians and politicians may dispute forever, but they will never find any other moral principle or foundation of rule or obedience, than the consent of governors and governed.”

If the representatives don’t intervene, reestablish the law, first principles, we are set on a course of the governed removing their consent and then comes suicide.

Adams said, “A Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.”
I believe we still have a chance. I ask all patriots to wake up and step up. We can do this.
Father, LORD, I pray Obama fails.
