a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God

Jesus Christ Is Lord!

Over the past several days I have been discussing liberty with my son. He is in the 9th grade and has been writing a paper about why books shouldn’t be banned.

We talked about the pure theory of the free flow ideas and the liberty exemplified and exercised in it. I talked to him about why even people who understand this principle feel the need at some point to restrict this free flow. I explained that the pure theory is set on the foundation of a sense of morality that would cause a self governing to occur. Example, moral standards would prevent someone from writing something that was beyond just a free flow of ideas. If this failed a proper moral and ethical standard would prevent the publishing. If these failed a proper sense of public morality would reject the impropriety and therefore prevent the further dissemination through the masses.

It is the same system of self governing I have spoken of many times. Liberty will only last as long as the moral and ethical standards which bridle it.

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness are the foundations of what our government was established to secure. When you remove God from this none are secured.

If it is the case that our Government was established to protect our Right to Life and our Liberty and the essential circumstance in securing protection is a moral code, and these Right are identified as coming from the Creator God, shouldn’t this government instituted under this premise also secure the same moral standard? If the rights come from the Creator can the standard come from some other origin?

The next right that is identified in our Declaration is the Pursuit of Happiness and in it the truth is shown. Happiness is contentment. The demagogue uses discontent founded on a lack of this moral code to perpetuate unhappiness and uses it as their tool and justification for taking life and liberty.

There can be no security of life and liberty without the moral standards of the Creator. The demagogue uses the claim that morality restricts your pursuit of happiness and encourages discontent as his way to power. His promised remedy is making laws allowing anything and in doing taking the life and liberty of others. The demagogue on the other side uses discontent to make laws restricting everything and allowing nothing. The problem with both is they leave out the actual solution to the problem which is the moral code from the Creator God that establishes self control and self governing. Both sides leave out what is essential and do it because His inclusion makes them useless and powerless.

I think he gets it, but I think he will ponder it long and hard before he really gets it.

Those of you who read these letters have heard me mention the demagogue often. I have given the Merriam-Webster definition many times. Here is the Greek origin: demos - people, the public, and ago - meaning drive or induce.
The full meaning is to drive or induce the people or public with oration (replacing the Creator’s intentions and standards).

Used as demegoreo and translated “made an oration” in Acts 12:21.

Demiourgos is used of the Creator as in Hebrews 11:10 and is translated Maker. It comes from demos - people or public and ergo - toil or work.

They make a calf.

God is the Maker of man and His commandments are not grievous.
