Righteousness

Jesus Christ Is Lord!
4 January 2011

Another point? Righteousness.

Truth is the objective that can only be achieved when self righteousness is abandoned and we admit that our only righteousness is in the LORD. The word truth has its origin in nothing being hidden and whatever is uncovered is truth. We should all be naked and our only clothing is the rightness of the LORD. If we have such a high opinions of ourselves that we can’t be corrected, if we ignore what is uncovered, this self righteousness becomes the filth we are covered with.

Philippians 3
7But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
8Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
9And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
10That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
11If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
12Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
13Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
15Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
16Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
17Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
18(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

In both Jeremiah 23 and 33, that I asked you to read several times over the past several days, the title is used in reference to the BRANCH, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. The title is used of the LORD in Chapter 23 and then is chapter 33 it is used of those saved by this Sprout from what was thought dead.

Chapter 32 should be read. The Hebrew word for righteousness is the same word that is used in the name Zedekiah. Zedekiah literally means the righteousness of Jehovah. In chapter 32 it is stated that he refuses to listen to the word of the LORD by Jeremiah telling him that he and the city would be taken by the king of Babylon. The pattern is because of miss-leadership and refusal to hear Jehovah’s correction confusion would take control. This book and 2 Kings end with Zedekiah’s eyes being put out and him in captivity in Babylon. Self righteousness leads to confusion and captivity by the enemies. This is the end of the kingdom and the reverse the antidote to restore it.

Job 35 and 36 - 37 also speak of the differences between self righteousness and the Righteousness that is found in the Maker.

The “elect lady” and her “elect sister” of 2 John are those spoken of in Jeremiah 33:16 “In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.” This Jerusalem is the Jerusalem of Galatians 4:26 “But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.”

Psalms 22

Read the chapters. Whenever you are ready.

In the Name of
Jesus Christ My Lord
Thank You My Father
