The word that jealousy is translated from in verse 3 is a word that literally means create and therefore ownership. You should look it up. It is qanah and is 7069 is the Strong’s Hebrew dictionary. The slightly different word is used in verse 5 and it more literally means envious.

Therefore in verse 5 we see that gate of entry to the rightful Owner is blocked by the envious coveters. This is the wrong response.

So, as commanded the Son of man digs a hole in the wall and inside sees all the elders and this Jaazaniah (hears Jehovah) the son of Shaphan (conceal as a treasure). In verse 9 -12 we see that they conceal the truth they hear from Jehovah because of the abominations they have brought in.
Shaphan is also a species of rabbit that hides in the rocks.
